Autumn

Following on from Rother Valley Aqua Park in the previous two years, this time we stayed local and experienced Halloween Bongo-Bingo with food.

Christmas

The end of term social saw teacher and student teams battle it out in a Lipsynch Battle and the One-Percent Club.

Following the Christmas party for the elderly at Valley Lodge, the sixth edition of the Christmas Quiz took place at Designate.  It was a close call, but as usual the Christmas Quiz is an event where lots of teams take part and then the Maths teachers win.

Spring

Taskmaster in the Drama Block, gave everyone a good laugh with students going against teachers in a series of nonsense tasks.  There was a serious miscalculation about the blast radius of a watermelon, but no lasting damage was done.

Summer

Last year’s committee organised Singstar dancing in the drama block was followed by ultimate frisbee and rounders against a sixth form tutor team.   This year the organisation went further, with teams of sixth formers arranging hook-a-duck and a coconut shy, while others played in combat ball, ultimate frisbee and a football competition.  At the same time various teachers were put in the stocks for charity sponge throwing and a mocktail stall helped to keep fluid intake high.  Money was raised for charities chosen by the students:  Endometriosis UK, Water Aid and Alzheimer’s UK.

The summer camping trips of 2021 and 2023, led by the incomparable Mrs Cruise, will hopefully be followed up by a summer 2025 edition.

Trips

Before the pandemic, trips abroad were starting to become a feature of the sixth form calendar, with Iceland 2018 followed by Greece 2019.  However in 2024 they are making a comeback, with Mrs Cruise and Mrs Sargeant leading another Iceland trip.  Although it’s great for geographers and geologists, it is definitely a sixth form experience, rather than a geography trip.
