Covid hit year group beat the odds and celebrate amazing GCSE results!
We are so very proud of every Highfields student celebrating their GCSE results today. Exam certificates can open doors and today almost every single one of our students progressed onto the post 16 option they were hoping for.
This success comes despite being the year group whose transition into secondary school was blighted by Covid lockdowns in 2020. They have overcome these setbacks to achieve against the odds!
As usual at Highfields we have our fair share of academic high-fliers including students such as Emily L who got TEN top level grade nines (a kind of A** in old money): this is simply astonishing. Also Isla T, Sam E, Jacob T J, Lily F and George L all scored very highly. Pasha (one of our Ukrainian refugees) scored top grades in history, Russian, maths, science and English and we are equally proud of our SEN students one of whom scored five 9s and another of whom scored top grades in French, history and physics. At Highfields we offer extra support to students who face disadvantage and were delighted that one such student achieved nine high grades.
Charlotte B, Noah K and Zoe L led the school in the amount of progress they had made from their starting points in Y7 completely outperforming even the most ambitious benchmarks which were set for them.
There are too many other success stories to share individually but we have absolutely loved working with this year group and will never ever forget them! We offer our best wishes to those leaving Highfields to explore other options and look forward to welcoming back those joining us in sixth form.
