Welcome to Highfields School Catering
We are delighted to welcome our new in-house catering service at Highfields School.
Our catering team is committed to providing pupils with a welcoming dining experience, offering a variety of food and drink options to enjoy throughout the school day.
With catering facilities at both our Lower School (Starkholmes) and Upper School (Lumsdale), we aim to provide a convenient and enjoyable service that caters for the needs of our school community.
Whether pupils are looking for a hot meal at lunchtime, a snack during break or a refreshing drink, our catering team is here to help.
What’s Available?
Our catering service offers a selection of food and refreshments for pupils to enjoy during the school day.
Options include:
- A selection of hot food at lunchtime.
- Snacks and lighter bites.
- Breaktime refreshments.
- A variety of drinks.
- Sweet treats and other snacks.
We aim to offer a range of choices so that pupils can find something they enjoy.
Meal Payments
We encourage parents and carers to use ParentPay to manage their child’s school meal account.
Using an online payment system helps pupils access food conveniently during the school day and reduces the need to bring cash into school.
Please ensure your child’s account has sufficient funds available if they intend to purchase food or drinks from the canteen.

Free School Meals
We want to ensure that eligible pupils can access a nutritious school meal during the school day.
Pupils receiving Free School Meals are entitled to a daily allowance of £3.55, which can be used towards the school’s meal deal.
The meal deal includes:
- A main meal.
- A pudding.
- A small juice carton.
The allowance is available for use during breaktime in the first instance. Any unused allowance is removed at the end of the day and does not carry over.
If a pupil chooses items outside the meal deal or spends their allowance during breaktime, they may need additional funds to cover any further purchases.

Our Catering Facilities
We provide catering facilities across both school sites:
Lower School – Starkholmes
Serving our Year 7 and Year 8 pupils.
Upper School – Lumsdale
Serving our Year 9, Year 10 and Year 11 pupils, with separate facilities for Sixth Form students.
Our aim is to make the dining experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible, helping pupils make the most of their break and lunchtime.
