19.07.2019 - Legally Blonde
Highfields School Drama, Dance and Music departments are incredibly proud of the recent production of Legally Blonde. With 136 students involved from years 7-13, as well as staff members, the performances were a tremendous success - concluding with a standing ovation on Saturday night.
10.07.2019 - Cyclocross Champions
The Year 7/8 Cyclocross team competed in the Derbyshire School Games at Mount St Mary’s on Tuesday 9th July. They competed well and it was clear that they were well drilled. They took part in the cyclocross boys, cyclocross girls, cyclocross relay and the Italian pursuit. I am pleased to say they won them all and are now Derbyshire Cyclocross Champions.
10.06.2019 - Highfields Performing Arts Students Experience Inspiring Trip
Highfields students were lucky enough to experience an inspiring and engaging trip to London at the start of the Easter holidays. We went for a 3 day residential trip, focusing on the performing arts. Year 10-13 students took part in many fun drama, dance, music and theatre related activities.
09.04.2019 - Hillsborough Disaster 30th Anniversary Remembrance Performance
In preparation for their GCSE Devised module, Year 9 worked on a project based on the stimulus of the Hillsborough Disaster. After numerous workshops exploring the stimulus with their class teacher, and developing their techniques and understanding of different practitioners, students begin to create their own project performance.
27.02.2019 - Live Theatre for Sixth Form Drama Students
Highfields students were lucky enough to experience an inspiring and engaging trip to London on January 31st. 16 Year 12 and 13 Drama students took the train to London with their teachers to experience Live Theatre as part of their written exam. A Level students are expected to analyse and evaluate the performances of actors in a live piece of Theatre.
26.02.2019 - Evening of Theatre
This January saw our third annual event of the Evening of Theatre. This event gives students something to work towards as they dedicate themselves to extra-curricular clubs each week. It has also offered our younger students (Years 7 & 8) the opportunity to build their confidence, perform with friends and get involved in a whole school event.
06.12.2018 - Highfields Students on the Trip of a Liftetime
Highfields students were lucky enough to experience an inspiring and engaging trip to London last week. On Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th November 50 Year 8 and 9 students were in London taking part in many fun drama, dance and theatre related activities.

On Friday 12th October, James Lomas, a West End and Olivier award winning actor, visited Highfields to inspire students across all 3 key stages.
23.08.2018 - Highfields ‘Class of 2018’ GCSE success
The publication of today’s GCSE results sees Highfields School’s ‘Class of 2018’ celebrating some excellent achievements. Today’s results include the first results from the new, more challenging reformed GCSE qualifications in many subjects.

With over 100 students involved from years 7-13, as well as staff members, the performances were a tremendous success - concluding with a standing ovation and a VIP guest on Saturday night.
25.06.2018 - Billy Elliot Workshop with James Lomas
On Wednesday 20 June, James Lomas, a West End and Olivier award winning actor, visited Highfields to inspire students across all 3 key stages. James Lomas, who played Billy in 2005, is an actor and professional performer, now specialising in high quality workshops in musical theatre.
